HISTORY
| You are on one of the Kingdom's most ancient golf courses, created in 1923 by the Pasha of Marrakesh, Hadj Thami El Glaoui Mezouari. In the 30’s, three great golf champions and pioneers reshaped the course: Arnaud Massy, the winner of the 1907 British Open, Bouchaib Stitou, the 1940 record holder on this course and Gustave Golias. Gradually, Royal Golf of Marrakesh became a real haven, combining authenticity and lush surroundings. In 2007, in its quest to satisfy the clients' highest standards, Royal Golf of Marrakesh put two talented designers in charge of the addition of 9 holes: Gery Watine, a native of Marrakesh, and golf professional, and well-known golf architect Thierry Sprecher. In May 2008, the brand new Menara course was officially launched. This Par 36 of 3072 meters (3359,580 yards) blends subtly with the outstanding natural environment. By conserving this unique terrain, Royal Golf of Marrakesh has become universally recognized as displaying the very soul of Morocco. |
Worthy of the world’s greatest golf courses, this layout benefits from all of the existing flora and fauna and fits in perfectly with the actual course. With its water-settings, and other natural surroundings, it offers a more technical and diverse course. The Royal Golf of Marrakesh is composed of an 18 holes ''Old Course'' PAR 72 of 5937 meters and 9 holes ''Menara'' PAR 36 of 3072 meters. |
